Visit to Wave Basin Test Hall

On July 20, 2023, a 4-people delegation led by Mr. Safian Bin Shafie, Head, Technical Development, Sarawak Petchem Sdn Bhd, Malaysia, visited NHRI, accompanied by personnel from China Communications Construction Company (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and CCCC-FHDI Engineering Co., Ltd.

During the visit, a meeting was held. Directors of International Cooperation Office (ICO) and River and Harbor Engineering Department, NHRI extended a warm welcome to domestic and foreign visitors. The director of the ICO introduced to the delegation the development history, institute strength, research directions and international cooperation, showed the scientific research platforms and research achievements of NHRI in the fields of water resources and river, coast, harbor and waterway engineering, and recalled the exchange and cooperation between NHRI and Malaysia partners.

After the meeting, the delegation witnessed the 2D physical model for the breakwater of Sarawak Methanol Project in the Wind-wave-current Flume Test Hall (downtown campus of NHRI), where they discussed the breakwater structure type and wave attenuation effectiveness of this project and other related technical issues. Subsequently, the delegation visited Tiexinqiao Water Experiment Center and Dangtu Experiment Center of NHRI.

The Malaysian delegation expressed great appreciation and recognition for the technical strength and research achievements of NHRI, indicating that they would further deepen the exchange and cooperation with NHRI. Personnel from China Communications Construction Company (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd introduced their business and experience regarding to Malaysia ports and waterways, and also showed the willingness to enhance the exchanges and cooperation with NHRI in this field.

Relevant technical backbones of NHRI River and Harbor Engineering Department participated in the exchange and accompanied their visit.
