From April 24 to 28, 2019, three experts from the Center for Economic Development, Transport and Environment of Finnish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the University of Turku visited China under the cooperation plan of Sino-Finnish Reservoir Dam Safety Demonstration Project. Field investigation of pilot reservoirs and academic exchanges were carried out during the visit. As one of the project undertakers, the Dam Safety Management Center (DSMC) of the Ministry of Water Resources, China organized field trip to the Linying Reservoir and the Hongshan Reservoir in Jiangsu Province, and the Xiaolangdi Water Control Project of the Yellow River. During the trip, the delegation learned the operation and management practices of Chinese reservoirs. The two parties conducted discussions on reservoir dam safety management system, safety monitoring, maintenance and repair, and sedimentation, dredging, and ice prevention of reservoirs. At NHRI, Prof. SUN Jinhua, NHRI Vice President and DSMC Director-General, met with the Finnish delegation. They discussed the project achievements, future arrangements and cooperation. JING Maotao, DSMC Deputy Director-General, and other relevant DSMC staff accompanied them on the field investigation of pilot reservoirs.
