In order to promote the research progress of Water Allocation Optimization Schemes and Comprehensive Reservoir Regulation Technology for the Yellow River Basin, a project of the National Key R&D Program of China, the first project meeting was held in Nanjing during March 21-23, 2018. The project, approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology in August 2017, is led by Yellow River Engineering Consulting Co. Ltd., with support from other 9 institutes and universities. NHRI conducts the first sub-project Dynamic Evaluation of Water Resources and Water Demand in the Yellow River Basin in a Changing Environment. The project meeting aimed to prompt the research progress, provide an opportunity for technology exchange, and strengthen the cooperation between all sub-project partners. 3 professors from Xi'an University of Technology (Prof. HUANG Qiang), Tsinghua University (Prof. WANG Zhongjing), and Nanjing University (Prof. Xu Youpeng) were invited to make keynote presentations and introduce up-to-date research advances in water sciences. Following the introduction of the general information and scientific objectives of the project, made by the project leader, Prof. WANG Yu from Yellow River Engineering Consulting Co. Ltd., the principal investigators of each sub-project reported the preliminary research achievements and main innovative highlights with extensive questions and discussions. The meeting saw the attendance of over 70 researchers from China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research, Yellow River Conservancy Commission (YRCC), Yellow River Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd., Yellow River Institute of Hydraulic Research, Hydrology Bureau of YRCC, Water Resources Protection Bureau of YRCC, Tsinghua University, Beijing Normal University, Xi'an University of Technology, Zhengzhou University and NHRI.
