The meeting On the morning of Aug. 22, 2017, Mr. Marian Muste, Research Engineer of Iowa Institute of Hydraulic Research (IIHR) and Adjunct Professor of College of Engineering, the University of Iowa, USA visited NHRI together with Prof. Arthur Mynett from UNESCO-IHE. Vice President LI Yun received the visiting foreign experts, and had a cooperation meeting with them. Vice President LI Yun briefed the guests on NHRI general information, and invited Prof. Muste to give a keynote report at the 2nd International Symposium on Hydraulic Modelling and Measuring Technology to be convened by the end of May 2018 in Nanjing. Prof. Muste introduced relevant researches of IIHR and joint education of PhD students with Zhejiang University, China. To commemorate its 100th anniversary, IIHR plans to organize an international conference on flood control in 2020 in USA, and NHRI colleagues are invited. The both sides had discussions on the joint education of graduate students, short-term exchanges of research backbones, joint application of research proposals, and admission of new members to the International Joint Research Center of Water Science and Engineering at NHRI as well. In addition, Prof. Muste is looking for the opportunity to cooperate with Chinese experts and scholars for the translation of his newly published book Experimental Hydraulics, co-written by other 47 experts and professionals in relevant fields into Chinese. After the Chinese elements are added, he will think about the publication of the Chinese version. Prof. Arthur Mynett, an honorable professor of NHRI, visited NHRI many times. He joined this meeting mainly for the discussion of a pilot city selection in China for a Water-Urbanization project to be led by RWS, the Netherlands within the framework of CEWP. The research area of Prof. Muste spans experimental river hydraulics and development of watershed data information management systems, sensors and sensor networks, and their implementation in research and education focused on sustainable use of water and land resources. He is author or co-author of more than 175 technical papers and 75 reports, and an expert for UNESCO-IHP and World Meteorological Organization for hydrology. Principals with NHRI International Cooperation Office and Research Center for Eco-Environment attended the meeting.
