On October 26, 2025, Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute (NHRI) held a high-quality development conference to celebrate its 90^th anniversary. The event was attended by leaders and experts from the Chinese Ministry of Water Resources, the Ministry of Transport, the National Energy Administration, Jiangsu Province, relevant industry authorities, scientific research institutions, universities, academic associations, enterprises, as well as representatives from international organizations, alumni, staff, retired colleagues, and graduate students.

NHRI President Dai Jiqun pointed out that nine decades ago, the predecessor of NHRI, the China Central Hydraulic Research Institute, was established during a time of national crisis. This marked the beginning of modern scientific water management in China. Over the past 90 years, the Institute’s development has been a history of unwavering commitment to serving the nation through science and technology, a history of tackling challenges and pioneering independent innovation, a history of passing on the torch and nurturing generations of outstanding talents, a history of reform and progress through exploration and innovation, and a history of fostering a culture of pragmatism, dedication, and contribution.

During the conference, the asteroid naming ceremony for "Shuikexing" was held, and a special documentary titled "Forerunner" was released to commemorate the 90^th anniversary of the Institute’s founding.
