Thai Royal Irrigation Delegation Visits DSMC & NHRI

On July 8, a delegation led by Mr. Ekkapong Nanudorn, civil engineer and Deputy Director of the Royal Irrigation Department of Thailand, visited Dam Safety Management Center (DSMC), Ministry of Water Resources and Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute (NHRI) for research and exchange. Mr. YANG Yuanyue, Deputy Director-General of DSMC, attended the exchange seminar.

YANG extended a warm welcome to the delegation and reviewed the cooperative achievements between DSMC/NHRI and Thai institutions in areas such as dam and levee safety management, green hydropower development, climate change response, and joint training of water resources professionals. Mr. Ekkapong Nanudorn expressed gratitude for the thoughtful reception and introduced the basic profile of the Royal Irrigation Department of Thailand, as well as the purpose of this visit and the intended areas of cooperation.

The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on topics including laws and regulations for dam safety management, risk assessment and emergency management, new technologies for safety monitoring, and relevant technical standards. Both sides agreed to leverage their respective strengths and establish a long-term cooperation mechanism, aiming to enhance the level of reservoir dam safety management in both China and Thailand through joint research, project collaboration, and academic exchanges.

Prior to the seminar, the delegation visited NHRI History Museum.

Relevant staff from DSMC and NHRI attended the exchange seminar.
