"Key Technologies and Equipment for Rapid Diagnosis and Prevention of Natural Disaster Damage in Reservoir and Dam Systems" Passes Performance Evaluation

On December 20, 2025, NHRI convened a performance evaluation meeting in a hybrid (online and offline) manner in Nanjing for the key special project Key Technologies and Equipment for Rapid Diagnosis and Prevention of Natural Disaster Damage in Reservoir and Dam Systems (Project No. 2022YFC3005400), led by NHRI, which falls under the National Key Research and Development Program of China's 14th Five-Year Plan, specifically within the project Prevention and Control of Major Natural Hazards and Public Safety. 

The meeting was chaired by Mr. GUAN Yunfei, Director of NHRI Scientific Research Management Department. Vice President GAO Changsheng, on behalf of the project lead unit, delivered an opening speech. The project leader, Senior Engineer SHENG Jinbao, provided an overview of the project implementation, key innovative achievements, and the completion status of assessment indicators. Senior Engineer CHI Fudong of Huaneng Lancang River Hydropower Inc., Professor CHEN Ming of Wuhan University, Senior Engineer DU Xiaohu of China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute, Senior Engineer LU Jianhua of Changjiang Survey, Planning, Design and Research Co., Ltd., and Senior Engineer XIANG Yan of NHRI presented respectively on the main research outcomes, application demonstrations and field inspections, indicators completion and academic outputs, sub-project organization and management, as well as budget utilization of the following five sub-projects: High Dam and Large Reservoir System Inspection, Natural Disaster Damage Monitoring, and Scenario Modeling, Mechanisms of Disaster Evolution in Reservoir and Dam Systems Under Combined Actions of Disaster-Induced Impact Loads and Water Pressure, Rapid and Accurate Diagnosis and Risk Prevention of Natural Disaster Damage in Reservoir and Dam Systems, Emergency Dispatching Decision-Making for Natural Disaster Damage in Reservoir and Dam Systems and Rapid Repair Technologies and Equipment for Water Release Structures and Integration and Demonstration of Deep-Water Inspection and Operational Technology Equipment for Reservoir and Dam Systems. The project review panel, composed of nine experts including Senior Engineer YAN Denghua, expert for project monitoring and evaluation, from China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research, examined the relevant reports and appendices. After inquiries and discussions, the panel unanimously agreed that each sub-project had passed the performance evaluation.

Following the meeting, the project leader, Senior Engineer SHENG Jinbao, convened the leaders and key technical personnel of each sub-project to outline the next-phase work. He emphasized the need for all sub-projects to further refine their performance evaluation documents based on the panel's feedback, collaborate closely with the project office to comprehensively review and summarize the completion status of project indicators, and diligently prepare the documents for the comprehensive project performance evaluation.
