DSMC Deputy Chief Engineer SHENG Jinbao is interviewed by the World Bank The East Asia & Pacific and South Asia Regional Dam Safety Management and Disaster Resilience Regional Workshop co-organized by the World Bank Group and Tokyo Disaster Risk Management Hub was held from April 3 to 7, 2017. The workshop focused on dam safety regulatory framework, addressing the challenges of dam safety organization and management, operation and maintenance, risk management and emergency response, and future action plans, and sharing knowledge and practical experiences. Over 60 representatives from the regions attended the workshop. At the invitation of the World Bank Group, the Chinese two-expert delegation headed by Prof. SHENG Jinbao, Deputy Chief Engineer of DSMC, attended the workshop and made presentations on China’s dam safety regulatory system, dam operation maintenance, risk management, safety review and capacity building, etc. China is the country having the largest number of reservoir dams in the world. The Chinese government always pays close attention to dam safety. In recent years, the dam safety laws and regulations system has been established and the management practices improved greatly. During the workshop, the World Bank Group in particular invited Prof. SHENG Jinbao to a video interview to introduce China's dam safety management achievements and experiences. The World Bank hoped to further develop all-round cooperation with China in the field of dam safety management so as to provide the technical supports for the improvement of dam management level in the Asian and Pacific region. Many representatives from various countries also expressed their willingness to carry out cooperation and technical exchanges with China.
