As the first executing institution, NHRI, in cooperation with other 7 units, has
completed the key research on safe construction of high concrete faced dams,
putting forward a new concept for deformation adjustment design, and
establishing a deformation adjustment criterion and computation methods for
deformation safety design. Computation and geotechnical testing were conducted
to reveal the interaction among dam body, foundation, seepage system and high
retaining walls to develop novel dam construction technology under complicated
topographical and geological conditions. New monitoring facilities and
deformation computing models were developed to form a complete set of dam safety
monitoring technology for high concrete faced dams. The research findings were
applied to over 25 engineering projects with considerable economic benefits. |
