On September 30, Sam Banzi, Vice Chairman of the Australian National Committee on Large Dams (ANCOLD), visited NHRI for technical exchange. Prof. Sheng Jinbao, Chief Engineer of Dam Safety Management Center of the Ministry of Water Resources, China and Director of NHRI Department of Dam Safety and Management, attended and chaired the meeting.

Prof. Sheng welcomed Vice Chairman Sam Banzi, introduced the academic strengths and research achievements of NHRI and Dam Safety Management Center, and reviewed the history of cooperation with relevant Australian institutions in dam safety management. Vice Chairman Sam Banzi watched the video introduction of NHRI in English - Pioneer, expressed his admiration for NHRI's long history and scientific and technological achievements, and introduced the basic information of ANCOLD as well as the purpose of his visit and cooperation intentions.

The two sides held in-depth exchanges on reservoir and dam safety management systems, dam risk management and safety resilience enhancement, and smart dam construction and digital-intelligent management. Both sides agreed that they should give full play to their respective advantages, establish a long-term cooperation mechanism, and jointly address extreme climate challenges through joint research, project cooperation, and academic exchanges, so as to enhance reservoir and dam safety management in both China and Australia.

Relevant personnel from NHRI and Dam Safety Management Center attended the discussion and exchange.
