“The Key Technology for Offshore Deepwater Port Construction and Its Engineering Application” is one of the priority research topics in “National Long and Mid Term Science and Technology Development Program in 2006---2020”, and one of the Key special programs in “11th Five-Year-Period Science and Technology Development Plan for Highway and Waterway Transport”. Breakthrough was made in such aspects as general planning and operation for high efficiency and safety of offshore deepwater ports, new structural design and new material for ocean engineering, equipment and techniques for quick environment-friendly construction in outer seas, new theory and computation method for soil limit analysis and underwater auto monitoring. A series of key technologies were developed to solve the world-level headaches in the construction of large offshore deepwater ports under severe natural conditions, which is of great significance in safeguarding national sea right and in tapping ocean resources.
