Visit to Nanjing Water Conservancy Exhibition Hall 
Visit to Sanchahe River Estuary Sluice On June 1, 2018, more than 100 domestic and international representatives, who attended the 2nd International Symposium on Hydraulic Modeling and Measuring Technology (ISHMMT 2018), visited Nanjing Water Conservancy Exhibition Hall and the Sanchahe River Estuary Sluice, which is an important component of the Integrated Qinhuai River Environment Improvement Project. Prof. LI Yun, Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Vice President of NHRI, and Prof. WU Shiqiang, Vice Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Director of NHRI Hydraulic Engineering Department accompanied them on the visit. The Sanchahe River Estuary Sluice is located at the junction of the outer Qinhuai River and Yangtze River. Its main functions are to close the gate and store water during non-flood season, raising the water level of the reach from the Wudingmen Gate to the Sanchahe River estuary, and improving the urban river landscape, and to open the gate for flood discharge during flood season. The sluice is in dual-goggle shape with the sluice chamber of dock structure made of reinforced concrete. This project adopted a lot of pioneering technologies and won the Gold Medal of Design of the Ministry of Water Resources, the National Gold Award of Design, and the Quality Engineering Award of China Water Conservancy. Nanjing Water Conservancy Exhibition Hall shows in detail the history of water conservancy development and the achievements of modern urban water conservancy projects in Nanjing. |
