Workshop of Innovation and Application of Precast Concrete Products Technology Successfully Convened

On Jun 23, 2017, Workshop of Innovation and Application of Precast Concrete Products Technology, sponsored by Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society (CHES) and co-organized by NHRI, Jiangsu Provincial Hydraulic Engineering Society, Hohai University, and Jianhua Construction Materials Group (JCMG) was held in Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu. More than 180 well-known experts and scholars from home and abroad in the field of concrete materials and structures participated in the Workshop. CHES Deputy Secretary-General WU Bojian was present and said that the Workshop was convened in the context of “Vigorous development of assembly structures to promote industrial restructuring and upgrading” proposed by Premier LI Keqiang at the executive meeting of the State Council on Sep. 14, 2016.

In order to implement the strategic cooperation agreement between NHRI and JCMG, Vice President of NHRI, a co-organizer of the Workshop, DAI Jiqun hosted the opening ceremony of the Workshop. More than 10 NHRI principals and technical experts attended the Workshop.

After the opening ceremony, 6 invited experts including Academician WANG Fuming with Zhengzhou University made reports titled Seepage Control, Restoration and Reinforcement of Foundation Works, Application of Concrete Products Technology in Regulation of the Yangtze River, Innovation and Practice of Prestressed Concrete Pipe Structures, Application of Precast Concrete Technology in Water Sector, Research and Application of New Generation Field-Mounted Buildings, and Preparation and Application of Ecological Concrete Products in Hydraulic Engineering, respectively.

The report of Innovation and Practice of Prestressed Concrete Pipe Structures made by NHRI Prof. HU Shaowei mainly elaborated the research achievements of experimental study, numerical simulation and standard compilation in regard to PCCP pipes with ultra large diameter applied in the national major hydraulic engineering like the South-to-North Water Diversion Project. Also included was the study and development of new BCCP pipe technology.

The Workshop was the first one sponsored by CHES for precast concrete products technology.
