A 5-person delegation led by CHEN Lianzeng, Chairman of the Chinese Society of Oceanography and former DG of the State Oceanic Administration visited NHRI on Apr. 11^th, 2017. President ZHANG Jianyun, Vice President DAI Jiqun and Chief Engineer DOU Xiping had a meeting with the delegation.

The delegates visited NHRI History Museum and physical model experiments at Department of River and Harbor Engineering, watched the video of The Forerunner, and listened to the introduction of NHRI basic information, development planning in the 13^th Five-Year Plan, and COES construction supported by NHRI. Chairman CHEN spoke highly of NHRI history, research capacities, hardware facilities and NHRI achievements, and had an in-depth discussion on COES and its two journals development. Chairman CHEN wished that NHRI could further enhance the cooperation in marine field and contribute more to turning China into an oceanic powerful nation, and suggested that NHRI should apply for the National Marine Science Base.

Principals with NHRI Department of Research Management and Department of River and Harbor Engineering, and staff with COES and the Editorial Office of the two journals attended the meeting.
