Vice Minister LU delivers a speech

Meeting

On Aug. 1, 2016, a delegation from MWR headed by Vice Minister LU Guihua visited NHRI. NHRI President ZHANG Jianyun, vice presidents and leaders with different NHRI affiliated departments attended the meeting. Braved the heat, the delegation visited the labs of NHRI Departments of Hydrology and Water Resources, Hydraulic Engineering and River and Harbor Engineering, and MWR Dam Safety Management Center and talked with NHRI researchers in order to better understand the progress of relevant research projects.

President ZHANG made a report on NHRI main work in the 12th “5-Year Planning” period and first half of this year, current and recent major scientific and technical issues of water conservancy, key technology in water-related management and how to give a full play to non-profit research institutes.

Vice Minister LU spoke highly of the remarkable achievement made by NHRI in recent years from the perspectives of scientific research capability, findings, platform construction, talents building, international influence, CCP construction, spiritual civilization, etc.

Vice Minister LU expressed his high hope and clear requirements on NHRI future development with the help of the following 4 points of clear positioning on national non-profit research institution, deepening scientific reform, seeking for more research findings and talents, and strengthening international cooperation and exchanges.

President ZHANG gave a positive feedback to Vice Minister’s hope and requirements, and NHRI will strive to promote all the work to a new level under the correct leadership of MWR.
