The conference

On Sept. 23, 2016, the Conference of IAHS China National Chapter (IAHS-CNC) was convened in Nanjing. Entrusted by IAHS-CNC Chair, Academician ZHANG Jianyun, vice Chair REN Liliang presided over the conference. Vice Chairs, Academician XIA Jun, Prof. REN Liliang, Prof. CHEN Xiaohong and Prof. YU Zhongbo, and Prof. XIONG Lihua with Wuhan University and Prof. LIU Junguo with Southern University of Science and Technology made invited reports at the conference. Deputy Secretary-General WANG Xiaojun made a report on the work progress of IAHS-CNC in recent 5 years and next step work arrangement.

The topics of the followed four sessions included tracers and timers of water systems, prediction and forecast of hydrology and water resources under a changing environment, interaction between hydrological science and social system under a changing environment, and urban hydrology and its uncertainty. There were more than 100 presentations in total at the conference, which provided a good communication and exchange platform, powerfully promoting the integration and exchange of domestic hydrological science.

The conference saw the attendance of more than 200 experts, scholars and graduates from NHRI, Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, Sun Yat-sen University, HoHai University, Wuhan University, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Beijing Normal University, Beijing Forestry University, Nanjing University, CAS Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, CAS Cold and Arid Regions Environmental and Engineering Research Institute, Northwest A&F University, etc.
